For almost a century, we have been at the forefront of delivering ground solutions to support power infrastructure development across the UK and internationally. In the 1950s and 1960s, we supported the delivery of the UK’s first fleet of nuclear power stations with work on Berkeley, Dungeness B and Hunterston A. Today, we continue to deliver some of the most complex ground engineering schemes for large-scale energy projects, such as Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C, as well as working within operational nuclear environments like Sellafield.  

As the industry progresses from traditional power stations to new generation energy clusters, we remain at the forefront of changing requirements – delivering sections of the first UK energy cluster power station project at Net Zero Teeside. 

The history of our business is closely intertwined with the UK Defence sector. We were trusted partners on four of five of the original Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Regional Prime Contracts and the DIO National and Regional Capital Works Framework. Currently, we are delivering a number of Defence projects across the UK for DIO. We support Balfour Beatty across numerous projects to deliver excellence and reliability in geotechnics, including current schemes at Derby and Aldermaston. 

Operating in the highways, rail and aviation sectors, we contribute to the delivery of advancements to transport infrastructure projects across the UK. Our recent work in the aviation sector includes the construction of the diaphragm wall at Heathrow Terminal 2B, which has played an important role in upgrading the airport’s infrastructure. In the highways sector, our collaborative work with Balfour Beatty Group on the M25 Junction 10/A3 Wisley Interchange has supported improved traffic flow and safety. Our current project on the M3 Junction 9 improvement scheme aims to reduce congestion and enhance connectivity for 130,000 drivers who use the road each day. These projects reflect our long-term commitment to progressing transport infrastructure to deliver safer, more efficient journeys and support the future of the transport sector. 

From offices and data centres to shopping centres across the country, we continue to deliver significant foundation schemes for high-rise commercial projects, maintaining our long-standing reputation in this market. For almost a century, our expertise in piled foundations has helped shape London’s ever-evolving skyline. The capital’s challenging and unique ground conditions, drives innovation in the techniques and solutions deployed beneath some of London’s most iconic structures. Our substantial contribution is evident in transformative infrastructure schemes for Transport for London and London Underground Limited, as well as landmark commercial ventures such as the Shard. Through every era of growth and reinvention, we have remained a constant, trusted presence – laying the foundations for London’s future while preserving a legacy of engineering excellence.
