Community engagement – Promoting STEM careers

Delivering long-lasting social benefit while also inspiring the next generation to pursue careers in infrastructure is at the heart of our operations.

As part of Balfour Beatty’s commitment to deliver 60,000 hours of engagement with schools, our social impact team is regularly engaging with education establishments to promote careers in construction. From delivering education development days at primary schools to conducting mock interviews with secondary students and attending careers fairs at colleges, universities and beyond, our early careers team is educating students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) career pathways and supporting their ongoing development.

As part of the Balfour Beatty Group and our 5% Club commitment, we invest in early careers – employing graduates, apprentices and year in industry students to give them valuable hands-on experience.
